The Biosystem BTS Semi Biochemistry Analyzer is a semi-automated clinical chemistry analyzer equipped with a 7-inch full-color touch screen LCD for user-friendly operation. It supports multiple reading modes including absorbance, end-point, kinetics, differential mode, and fixed time, with mono- and bichromatic measurements, and optional reagent blank for all modes. The system includes an internal thermal printer and offers a database capacity of over 1, 000, 000 results covering patients, blanks, calibrations, and quality control data (up to 5 GB storage). Connectivity options include unidirectional LIMS connection, two USB 3.0 host ports, and an Ethernet RJ45 interface. The optical system utilizes LED technology with a patented optical bench design, operating within a nominal range of –0.2 to 3.5 A. It provides wavelengths at 340, 405, 505, 535, 560, 600, 635, and 670 nm, with a high digital resolution of 0.0001 A at 2.0 A and a bandwidth of 5 ± 1 nm for precise measurements. The analyzer is pre-programmed with 85 validated Biosystems tests and allows customization with more than 10, 000 additional tests. It supports incubation times from 5 to 9999 seconds and reading times from 1 to 60 minutes, along with advanced functions such as formula-based result adjustment, linearity and detection limit checks, and abnormal sample alarms. Calibration features include factor, calibrator, and multipoint calibration methods with linear and non-linear options, as well as single-point repetition in multi-calibration. The quality control system supports three control levels per test, includes Levey-Jennings control charts, and stores up to six months of QC data with more than 500 results per QC level. The analyzer uses optical quartz glass flow cuvettes with an 18 µL volume and accommodates removable macro, semi-micro, and micro cuvettes with a 12 mm round diameter. Its fluidic system operates via a stepper motor pump with a nominal flow rate of 10 mL/min, aspiration volumes ranging from 100 µL to 5000 µL, and includes a 1 L waste bottle.
